Prints All our prints are made and dispatched by Photobox, the UK’s leading online photographic retailers. They are printed on high quality photographic paper using state of the art digital photographic printing machines. Print Sizes and Current Prices
Print Quality The images you see on the web are preview size images, at fairly low resolution (600 pixels longest side) and quite high compression, to keep the file size small. When you order a print, we get an automatic email from Photobox requesting the full resolution file(s). This gives us the opportunity to have a close look at each file and make any adjustments that may be necessary for Photobox to produce the best possible print from it. Print Proportions All the Fotoboat image files are in the proportions produced by the camera; in most cases this is 3:2 (or 1.5:1 if you prefer). Only one of our standard print sizes is in these proportions (7.5 x 5 inches). All the others require some degree of cropping. Please bear this in mind when ordering. At the checkout you will be offered the options "crop" (default) or "shrink to fit". Other Products We also offer medium resolution files. These are files downsized to around 1,500 pixels longest size, with only a small amount of jpeg compression. File size is around 400 Kb. Medium resolution files will produce good prints at 7.5 x 5 inches and are good for on-screen viewing, eg for screen savers. Gift Vouchers are also available. Calendars Every year between October and December we produce a range of Fotoboat calendars. The calendar shop is now closed for 2008 but will re-open in September or October with details of the 2009 calendars. Other Services Fotoboat photographers are available to undertake commissioned work. We have carried out successful commissions recently for both Yachts and Yachting and Dinghy Sailing Magazine. Images for Editorial Use We regularly supply images to magazines and newspapers Images for Commercial Use We would define “commercial use” as any use in connection with a money-making business, such as use in company adverts, brochures and websites. Our rates for this type of use are very reasonable – please contact Mike for details. Images for Clubs and Classes Fotoboat is always prepared to support clubs and classes by providing images for websites and magazines. Please contact us with your requirements. Any images supplied will be only for the use as requested and we will retain copyright (see below). We will always require images to be properly credited eg “© Mike Rice/www.fotoboat.com” and if used on a website, to be linked back to our site. Copyright The copyright of all Fotoboat images is owned jointly by Fotoboat and the photographer who took the picture. Image credits of the form “© Mike Rice/www.fotoboat.com” will normally be used. The full details of Copyright Law are obviously beyond the scope of this note but the essence is that you may not use a Fotoboat image without our express permission. This applies equally to Fotoboat images displayed on third party websites: if we have, for example, supplied an image to a class association under the arrangement described above, it is still our property and you may not copy it for your own use without our permission. page last changed 21/06/2008
